When creating a new Content Category (e.g., Process), you can define Metadata fields to store additional information relevant to pages under that category. As an administrator, you have the authority to determine which Metadata fields are mandatory for users to complete within this Content Category page. This is done by simply selecting the “Required” checkbox when setting up each Metadata field.

For example, you might add fields such as Process Owner, Description as mandatory. Reminder that you can mark a Metadata field as not required at any time.

  • Required fields are indicated with a red asterisk ( * ) on the page.

  • Users must fill in all required metadata fields before they can save the page.

  • If a required field is left blank, Confluence will display an error message and prevent the Metadata from being saved.
