When creating a new Content Category (e.g., Process), you can add Metadata fields to capture key information related to the pages in that category.
As an administrator, you can choose which of these fields users must fill out by simply checking the “Required” box when setting up each field.
For instance, you might require fields like Process Owner or Description to ensure that important details are always provided.
You can mark fields as required or optional at any time, not just during creation. Just edit the Content Category to make adjustments whenever needed.
When you assign a Content Category to a page or create a new page using a template linked to that Content Category, the following will be displayed.
Required fields are indicated with a red asterisk ( * ) on the page.
Users must fill in all required metadata fields before they can save the page.
If a required field is left blank and user clicks “Save” button, an error message will be shown and the Metadata will not be saved.
If the user clicks "Close" without saving while creating a page from a template, a warning message will appear:
Clicking "Confirm" will close the dialog without assigning a Content Category to the page. (Mandatory fields must be filled in before a category can be assigned.)
Clicking "Cancel" will return the user to the Metadata edit dialog, where they can complete the required fields and save.
We'd love to hear what you think about required fields in Content Categories. Is it working well for your team? Any ideas for improvement? Share your feedback with us. It helps us shape the future of Metadata! |
