When creating a new Content Category (e.g., Process), you can define Metadata fields to store additional information relevant to pages under that category. As an administrator, you have the authority to determine which Metadata fields are mandatory for users to complete within this Content Category. This is done by simply selecting the “Required” checkbox when setting up each Metadata field.
For example, you might add fields such as Process Owner or Description as mandatory. An admin can mark a Metadata field as required or not required at any time by editing the Control Category, this doesn't need to be done only during creation.
When you assign a Content Category to a page or create a new page using a template linked to that Content Category, the following will be displayed.
Required fields are indicated with a red asterisk ( * ) on the page.
Users must fill in all required metadata fields before they can save the page.
If a required field is left blank, an error message will be shown and the Metadata will not be saved.
If the user clicks "Close" without saving, when creating a page using templates, a warning message will be shown:
If the user clicks “Confirm” , the dialog will disappear and no Content Category will be assigned to the page . This is because assigning a Content Category requires all mandatory fields to be filled.
If the user clicks “Cancel” , they will return to the Metadata edit dialog, where they can complete the required fields and save.
