Metadata Permission Scheme (v 3.3)

Metadata for Confluence uses the following permission scheme.

Metadata set and field definitions

 

Create, edit and remove Metadata fields and sets

Global Metadata fields and sets

Confluence administrator

Any user with access to Confluence.

This includes anonymous users when anonymous access to Confluence is enabled.

Space Metadata fields and sets

Administrator of the space or Confluence administrator

Any user with access to Confluence. Access to the space is not needed.

This includes anonymous users when anonymous access to Confluence is enabled.

Edit Metadata values

Any user who is allowed to
view a page which has a Metadata set assigned can see the values of the fields belonging to that set.

If Metadata setting Non-admin-users can add Metadata Sets is disabled, only the administrators of the space and Confluence administrators are allowed to add and remove Metadata sets.


If Metadata setting Non-admin-users can add Metadata Sets is enabled, any user with Add page permission in the space can add and remove Metadata sets.

Any user who is allowed to
edit a page which has a Metadata set assigned can modify the values of the fields belonging to that set.

The Metadata setting Non-admin-users can add Metadata Sets can be found in the Confluence administration when navigating to METADATA FOR CONFLUENCE → Advanced Options.
